Care & Assembly
Caring for your MAE SOLLE Tote
Your EVA Tote is built to last, but a little love goes a long way. Here's everything you need to know to keep it looking its best for years to come.
GENERAL CARE
- Wipe clean with a soft cloth and mild soap. No harsh chemicals needed.
- Got sunscreen or saltwater on the bag? Rinse with fresh water to avoid buildup or residue.
- Avoid leaving your bag in a hot car or exposed to exreme heat for long periods. This may cause slight warping.
- If the shape shifts during shipping, gently soften with a warm hairdryer or hot water, then reshape by hand.
- Store upright in a cool, dry space to help maintain structure.
EXTRA CARE TIPS
- For long-term storage, lightly stuff your tote (with tissue or clean towels) to help retain its shape.
- Avoid sharp objects or overfilling. While EVA is durable, this helps maintain the clean silhouette.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Q: My handles have gone floppy or bent out of shape. What do I do?
A: EVA has thermal memory; it responds to heat. If your handles have softened from sun or heat exposure, stand the bag upright in a cool spot for a few hours and they'll return to their natural shape. To avoid this, don't leave your bag in direct sunlight for extended periods or fold the handles back on themselves.
Q: My bag looks slightly misshapen from shipping - will it fix itself?
A: Yes! EVA is a flexible material that responds well to warmth. A gentle steam or warm hairdryer blast on the inside of the bag helps reset it. Fill it and leave it upright for a day to encourage the shape to bounce back.
Q: The buttons feel stiff - is that normal?
A: Yes. They're designed to hold firmly once secured. Once you've assembled them a couple of times, it becomes second nature.
Q: Can I leave it out in the sun?
A: Yes! Just avoid extreme temperatures for long periods (such as a hot car), which can soften or warp the EVA over time.
Assembling Your Tote
Each MAE SOLLE tote comes with removable handles and buttons.
Step-by-step:
- Push each twist button through the handle holes so they sit flush.
- Tighten the back buttons until secure. If they feel loose, twist further until they “catch.”
- Still loose? Try swapping the backs or gently pressing to align the threads.
- Occasionally, check your buttons - they should never “pop” off during regular use.
